EBENRIEDER // Germany

is a bespoke farmhouse retreat nestled in the rural beauty of the “Allgäu Alps”.
With a contemporary and loving restoration by the owners Jasmin and Stefan Hahn and an timeless touch by interior designer Stephanie Thatenhorst this property has now relaxed itself into its picturesque surroundings. With its light-flooded rooms and idyllic village atmosphere at the foot of the Auerberg, the Ebenrieder offers seclusion and inspiration.

As a space for culture and cuisine it hosts retreats and culinary getaways that are curated by whose creativity and kitchen artistry distills the atmospheric and care-filled essence of the space.

I have had the pleasure to imagine the “Bauerngarten” and the “Front-Garden” which together make up the overall space that is the “Entreé”. As the first point of arrival it seeks to extend the Ebenrieder´s atmosphere and create a welcoming wilderness for the guests.
It has been planted in October 2026 to now grow into its own beauty with its multiple layers. From existing shrubs, such as the Amelanchier sp. to the roses that will climb onto hand-made metal trellises exclusively designed for the space. With the perennials merging different heights and accents throughout the year and the geophytes bringing seasonal interest the final vision of the planting will become tangible in this coming spring.

Stay tuned for more insights into the garden this coming season.

Autumn-plantings often seem sparse, yet the already leafless perennials as well as the geophytes will soon provide a lush and textural vignette.
The drip-irrigation will be dug in, to keep it safe from local weasels.

Geranium macrorrhizum 'Ingwersen's Variety about to be set out.
