Meet Sebastian

Sebastian is a multidisciplinary queer artist, whose meandering path has been distilled into his own studio that is “Haute Jardin”.

Founded on the first Monday in May in twenty-twenty, Haute Jardin stands for a detailed and spellbinding approach to narrating beauty withthrough — and alongside nature.

From seasonal masterful floral design and naturalistic garden making to fine-art photography, abstract painting and heartfelt poetry: Each project is infused with an abundant, curated wilderness — always weaving in a contemporary and bold approach that can be felt pulsating through each of his works.

With his background in fine-art he brings an understanding of visual languages and design-principles whilst adding his own key-aspects throughout his work.

AS A PHOTOGRAPHER + WRITER

Sebastians wilderness inspired work has been published in several outstanding magazines as well as commended and been chosen as a finalist in both the @gdnmediaguild “Gordon Rae Photography Award” as well as the “International Garden Photographer of the Year” @igpoty — it has been shown during talks at the esteemed @gardenmuseum as well as featuring his portrait as part of the renowned @houseandgardenuk Top 50 Garden Designers in 2025. Sebastian is portraying the “Genius loci” in his images, telling garden stories through his evocatively captured details and bringing his fine-art background into it.

AS A GARDEN DESIGNER

Sebastian has found his love for spellbinding wilderness in England, where he received two RHS Medals for his show gardens during his second and third year studies, one of them being the prestigious gold, being commended for the painting palettes. Having worked in gardens such as “Little Malvern Court” and having briefly interned at “Great Dixter” he has expanded his knowledge and application of plants. His work stretches from Greece, to Italy to Germany and his work has been published in various international magazines. He focusses on bespoke design-concepts and artistic contemporary planting displays.

AS A SLOWFLOWER-FLORIST

Sebastian has developed his hyper-seasonal and detail-driven style whilst being part of the British slow flower-movement “Flowers From the Farm” as well as learning from esteemed designers like Zita Eltze, Alex Nutting and Jess Lister aka “Aesme”, Claire Bowen from “Honeysuckle and Hilda” as well as Anna Potter from “Swallows and Damsons”. He has trained as a master-florist in Austria. Sebatsian is part of the German Slowflowerbewegung since 2019, and as co-chair he is bringing his design expertise and knowledge to promote seasonal, regional cut-flower farming as well as sustainable, contemporary floral design.
